1h PVP weapons

I never understood the stats of 1 handers from the pvp vendors. Vicious Gladiator's Slicer appears to have low damage than the Vicious Gladiator's Hacker. But they both have the same stats. Of course out of sense i would pick the higher damage but i'm seeing a lot of frost dks pick the sword. And i'm wondering why??? No one told me a legit reason why the sword is better. Can someone fill me in on what i'm missing?
Oh hey look it's this thread again...the difference is the weapon damage. The slicer has higher low end damage, but lower high end damage. The hacker as lower low end damage, but higher high end damage.
Hmm okay thanks for the reply.

Why Helm over chest(4p) as frost?

Can someone explain to me why I see frost dks use the helm over the chest when acquiring the 4p bonus? I know the domo chest is very well itemized, but the helm has hit on it. Does this have something to do with neck selection and availability?

IE if i have the h-shannox neck, should i try for bp, if not, go for helm?
I would assume it's bis due to the total accumulation of stats

Your current 'bis' is generally always different that the ultimate 'bis'. You should use what items you need to get the stats you need.
You almost always have too much hit from gear nowadays. Plus crit is so bad for us. which is found on both off helm+tier chest, but not on off chest+tier helm.
^ What she said

Crit sucks
Okay, so even if chest is 4p, just don't buy it over ring/neck/os stuff? Thank you, I think
Nevermind I'm tempted to just buy chest for short term gains over ring for similar reasons

BIS Trinkets for frost DK= Hurricane card?

I am a frost DK that respected into haste and uses UH presence. I read that the hurricane card is the BIS trinket for my set up. What do you think? Does it proc enough to really make a dps difference?
I would have to say Crushing Weight and Heart of Rage if we're not including the trinket off Rag. Apparatus could replace Crushing Weight, depends on what you have available.

I would think that the extra haste from the Crushing Weight procs leads to more KM procs which leads to more dps than the Hurricane card procs. I have the card, and honestly, I never notice when it procs. Then again, im not really looking for it either.
From what I've read the DMC Hurricane isn't BIS until you get to 4pc T-12. But even then it would depend on the rest of your gear. Pretty good talk about trinket weights on EJ forums.
Until you hit Rag, Heart of Rage and License to Slay are BiS - unless you can't use the hit on License to Slay, then Essence of Eternal Flame and Crushing Weight are slightly better (and Essence contains more utility for Frost due to the cd lining up with PoF).

Apparatus is worse than any of them, but if you're not really raiding then grab any two you can get and focus on learning to use your priority system and cooldowns effectively - a trinket here or there is not going to make or break your DPS.

2h frost, arena, and squishyness

As the title says, this post will refer to those three things. Currently, I'm running as 2h frost in arena and I'm usually the kill target. Getting trained into the ground in a matter of seconds is really not fun. Should I switch to unholy for more survivability? Because right now I'm going down in seconds even if I pop defensive CDs.
Same here, and its odd because on my hunter i'm, like NEVER focused, and i'm more squishy than my DK.

I'm thinking about changing to Blood for survivability and to run flags. It's sad to lose dps, but hey, could give it a try.
I was thinking about gearing up my feral, which I'm doing. However..we're probably gonna get nerfed so...

QQ :(
@OP

You have unenchanted gear.
You have over 300 spell pen -_-
You have no major glyphs

I say work on your characters setup and read up on how to play your guy.

And he's the kind of player Blizzard listens to.
but yeah, DKs are the squishiest plate class

Serious help needed.

I have been trying to come up with an someone easy rotation and tree build for a casual gamer. I was doing about 2500 dps before I changed my spec again. I am not completely new but I don't understand what items I need to bring up my item levels. I would truly like to keep my build unholy because I am most comfortable with that build. If anyone could offer suggests please comment.
Well I am no PvE guru, but I will list the few obvious things I noticed.

Firstly, you are still wearing mostly gear from the lvl 80 range. You should have easily upgraded all of this gear leveling up, so not 100% sure what to tell you on that. From looking at your ilvl score, you really don't have any of that gear, so perhaps grind away at some bg's until you can get better gear. Even honor gear in dungeons would be better than what you have equipped at the moment.

Secondly, you are specced frost, but you said you want to keep your unholy spec? Was that a typo or did you spec out of UH for that current spec?

The spec you are using however is centered around dual wielding. You are currently using a 2H, so that alone is gimping you as well.

I will leave the rest for someone more suited. I would assume the stickies up top could be of use for you as well.
How did you get loremaster of Cataclysm and wind up with an ilvl of 262? Did you make the mistake of thinking all purples are better than all greens and blues and refused to let go of your WotLK gear? You should be a solid 318 at the very least from quest rewards...

(Or maybe you logged out in gear you saved from Wrath and are playing a joke on us?) :P
no like i said i don't understand gear at all. I probably could have upgraded on my gear but I don't know which gear I need. And like I said in my previous post i had specced different because I was trying to do better DPS. But I did not like it at all. I am used to using unholy personally. I just play the game I don't understand the different gear you need. I just need a decent talent tree and rotation. I know it sounds kinda like i am stupid I just don't understand everything. I basically go in and kill. I don't know which gear I need or which is better.

Death Knight tanking suggestions

As it stands, Death Knights have the least intuitive designs of the tanks. My suggestions are as follows:

Make Bone Shield cost 15-20 RP instead of an Unholy Rune

Make Dancing Rune Weapon cost 25-30 RP

Increase the armor bonus by 4% and stamina bonus by 2% from Blood Presence to make up for:

Remove Rune of the Stoneskin Gargoyle. It was originally implemented because DKs couldn't obtain Defense Rating from 2H weapons (except that green axe from that one Icecrown quest). Now it increases armor by 4% and stamina by 2%, and AFAIK, most if not all DKs use Swordshattering now.

Remove Heart Strike. In its place: "The Death Knight's Death Strike ability now costs 2 Blood Runes and applies the Blood Boil effect when used"

Blood Rites changed to be activated upon Festering Stike and Outbreak due to Death Strike costing Blood Runes.

Magic Suppression and Anti-Magic Zone should be in the Blood tree instead of Unholy; Magic Suppression should be rolled into Toughness.

I haven't played my DK since Cataclysm came out when I read how backwards they'd become. So I don't have the playing experience to know if this would help or make everything worse. Please let me know and feel free to make suggestions.
I agree with the reduction in cost to DRW, as (even glyphed) it seems as though I build more threat when I spam RS in lieu of using DRW. The reduction would definitely make it way more appealing and add a bit of strategy to (let's be honest) a fairly lackluster tanking "rotation".

With Bone Shield, however, I'd personally prefer that it keeps it's rune cost but at a reduced cooldown. Couple that with Death Strike spam for Blood Shield and a DK tank would be a monster, and far less "spikey" (i.e. Hp bouncing up and down like the stock market.)

Heart Strike imo is far better than spamming a lackluster attack like Blood Strike which is largely relegated to worthlessness as I tend to dump my blood runes a.s.a.p. to proc blade barrier. And the double Br cost on Death Strike would already make a nerfed ability even more so. Blood Rites currently procs on Death Strike usage as is and allows for a constant upkeeping of Blood Shield, which aside from Avoidance stats, is one of our best abilities at mitigating boss damage.

IMO, Magic Suppression and AMZ getting moved to Blood would make Unholy almost totally unappealing, gutting an already deficient tree of much needed utility.

Just my opinion.

trinkets

Hello i recently got revered with avengers and bought the stregnth trinket ( i dont know how to link things), but i have the apparatus of khaz goroth and heart of rage. So my question is should i replace any of my current trinkets for the revered avengers trinket? and i know its on use but i would just macro it with pillar of frost so which is one is just better?
anyone know?
yeah id probably just stick with what you have now
