[:1]so when i pop 5x apparatus ive got 4001 haste, my weapons are 1.30 speed. down from 1.53, license to slay gives 321 hit and i think 380 str once its fully stacked. isnt slay better then apparatus once its reforged from hit to say haste? im using impatience of youth/apparatus atm, about to swap the apparatus to slay.
It really depends on your current character setup, the stats you need, and how long the apparatus requires to stack / its cooldown on use.
Both offer around the same amount of strength, the fact that slaying requires it to "stack up" is moot due to HOW FAST it stacks as DW frost.
So that leaves strictly the proc / 2ndary stats to weigh against each other.
Speaking for the license to slay, it can either have amazing itemization or terrible, depending on your other gear. You are GOING to have a huge chunk of +hit (193 rating to be exact) left even after reforge. Are you under your hit cap? Perfect, this is the BEST 2nd stat you can get. Are you OVER hit capped? Well then this is terrible because thats 193 rating wasted on sub-par stat (dw still benefits from +hit after yellow cap... but not by much).
Whats left is 128 of a 2ndary of your choice. Are you under expertise cap? wonderful, there is your obvious choice. Filled for hit and expertise? Bam, a constant 128 haste.
I personally cannot speak for the apparatus, but depending on its buildup time and how often you can dump it, it can swing either way. Are you hit capped and not in need of expertise? Does apparatus have a descent uptime? Then the apparatus may be the way for you to go. Do you still need +hit and enjoy a constant +exp or +haste? Then maybe you want to use slaying.
Also important is.... can you remember to use apparatus religiously and make sure to get full use from it? If not, then you are a player that benefits more from a constant stat, rather than an "on use" stat. 4000+ haste is a ton of haste... but its useless if you use it at the wrong time or cant ever remember to use it.
Along those lines tho, atleast with certain boss mechanics you can chain the apparatus use into high dps timing windows (magmaw with his head pinned for example).
Which is better? Well that depends on YOU!
Apparatus gives (508*5*15)/120≈317 Haste.
So they're about equal. However, looking at your Armory, you should be dropping Impatience of Youth and going Apparatus/License.
Impatience of Youth is a weak trinket. The best combo would be License (assuming you can use the hit you are not reforging away) and Apparatus.
So currently as im posting im in my PVE gear. i just thought the youth trinketwas good due to the proc mixed with pillar and unholy str all at once. not to mention the mastery/haste i get from the passive bonus of equipping it. ill give slay/apparatus a shot, but still is the proc going to be worth it? i just dont see it. I think the reforged mastery -> haste from youth along with the str clicky outweighs a passive 383 str and 2.0 speed off my weapons every 2 minutes. as frost 5 stacks is up 75% of the time or more if im in combat, especially on a boss.
Yes i realize my PVE gear is still in some PVP, those are soon to be replaced with elementium valor or fireland gear. the reforged Slay puts me a .50 over the 8% cap for hit i think.
